The
Division of Pediatric Surgery is devoted to the diagnosis and management of
surgical problems (general and thoracic) in infants and children which include:
- Alimentary tract (esophagus, stomach, small and large bowel)
- Abdomen and its contents (diaphragm, biliary tract, liver, pancreas, spleen)
- Breast, Skin, and Soft tissue
- Chest Wall and Lung disorders
- Head and Neck (traumatic, congenital, and malignant disorders)
- Endocrine (thyroid, pancreas, adrenal; and, working with other specialists, Intersex problems)
- Surgical Oncology (malignant tumors and benign growths)
- Trauma (the number one killer of children in the United States); management of
traumatic injuries; advocates of injury prevention
- Critical Care and ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) cannulation for
profound respiratory failure
- Neonatal (birth defects and surgical complications of infection)
- Pre-natal (antenatal diagnosis of abnormalities by ultrasound)
- Vascular access
The Division of Pediatric Surgery consists of three board
certified pediatric surgeons. Their
clinical practice includes the surgical problems of infants, children, and
adolescents.
