Chairman's Message

The Department of Pediatrics is committed to excellence in scholarly activity, education and the clinical care of children and adolescents.  As a proud graduate and faculty member of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, I know first-hand how an impeccable foundation in medical education, coupled with a strong residency program, aids in the development of the most knowledgeable, compassionate pediatricians.  

Driven by our three-pronged mission, the Department of Pediatrics makes a visible impact in the community and in the lives of the people we serve.  Our team of talented pediatric specialists offers the most comprehensive care available in the Midlands, from well-child care to surgical trauma.  We are partners in care—working with parents and families to guide the health of children while providing the highest quality care.  And, we are conducting research in many vital areas that impact the health of South Carolina’s children, including cancer, endocrinology and developmental pediatrics.   Residents work alongside faculty experts who provide them with hands-on, real-world medical experience.

I am especially proud of the accomplishments of our team of more than 75 pediatricians and medical staff who are the ultimate reason for the ongoing achievements of this nationally recognized department.

We care about South Carolina’s children, and we strive every day to make this apparent in our clinical care, research and medical education endeavors.
