The Division of General & Hospital Pediatrics provides comprehensive pediatric care to the children of Richland and Lexington counties as well as to patients in a 17 county referral area. Its faculty is responsible for patient care and teaching in the Children's Hospital Outpatient Center where more than 15,000 outpatient visits are recorded annually. The Division also oversees an active inpatient teaching and referral service in the Palmetto Health Children's Hospital and serves as the region's only pediatric hospitalist physician group.

In addition to these primary responsibilities, the Division of General & Hospital Pediatrics is actively involved in a Duke Endowment sponsored Adolescent School Health program and provides a medical home for children with complex special needs in the Special Care Center. Many of the faculty are active in community projects and programs, and are widely recognized for commitment to and accomplishments in medical student and resident education.
